| Judge refuses to hear petition against SASB | | | Srinagar: Citing personal reasons, Justice J P Singh of Jammu and Kashmir High Court today expressed his inability to hear a petition against Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) and state government in a case of alleged tampering with the 'shivlingum' at the shrine.
"I cannot hear this case due to personal reasons," Justice Singh said when the case came up for hearing.
He said it would be listed on Monday, July 31, before some other judge of the court.
Jagdish Chander Sharma, a resident of Kishtwar, has filed a petition against the SASB for hurting the sentiments of Hindu devotees of the Amarnath shrine by installing a fake 'lingum' in the cave.
Sharma has also made Chief Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir government, Commissioner-secretary of tourism department and Director, tourism respondents in the case.
The shrine board has already ordered a probe by a retired High Court judge into the controversy surrounding the stacking of snow in place of the naturally-formed ice-lingum.
The one-man commission is expected to submit the report in the second week of August. |
