After RSS, BJP also joins oust Omar campaign | | | ET REPORT JAMMU, Oct 19: After the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), its political wing BJP has also joined the oust Omar campaign by launching the nation-wide campaign against him. The BJP according to sources has also taken serious exception to the statement of Union Ministers of Home, P Chidambaram and External Affairs Minister, SM Krishna for giving a clean chit to the Government. Sources said while taking the strong exception to the statements of Union Ministers the BJP has accused the Congress of encouraging the secessionist elements by adopting wrong policies on Kashmir. BJP which terms Kashmir as an integral part of the country has reiterated its demand of Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan and Ek Nishan i.e (One Constitution, One Prime Minister and one Flag) said while the Party has achieved the two o its objectives it will continue to fight for the achievement of the third objective so far as Kashmir problem is concerned. BJP the sources said will also hold functions in the length and breadth of the state in connection with Accession Day falling on October 26 from tomorrow. The first programme in this connection will be held in Kashmir Valley tomorrow where the Party national general secretary and former Union Minister, Vijay Goel will be the chief guest. This will be followed by series of programmes on October 26 at distrct headquarters in different parts of the state. Later from October 27 series of programmes will be held at Mandal and tehsil level by the Party in different parts of the state till November 2 in connection with celebration of Accession Day. Sources said the decision to start the celebrations of the Accession Day by the Party from Kashmir Valley was taken to challenge the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who had talked against the merger of the state with India during a speech in State Assembly at Srinagar recently. The BJP wants to tell Mr Abdullah that the people in Kashmir too have no objection with the state's merger with Indian Union and it was a chunk of disgruntled politicians who always misled them on the issue for their political ends. The BJP in quick reaction to Omar Abdullahs' outbursts is for the first time celebrating the Accession Day with such fanfare in the state to silence both the NC as will as separatists challenging Kashmir's merger with India. The Party according to surces also wants to teach a lesson to the Congress which is the junior coalition partner to NC in the state for maintaining a stoic silence on the issue. The BJP leadership while expressing surprise over the negative attitude of the Congress on the issue said the same party which had jailed the Sheikh Abdullah in 1953 for challenging the merger of Kashmir with Indian Union is giving a clean chit to his grandson Omar Abdullah for making an identical statement. However, sources said that there is a division within Congress party over the issue while a sizable number of senior leaders including former Chief Minister of the state and some top ranking party functionaries in Delhi have also demanded open action against Mr Abdullah who is still enjoying the patronage of Congress chief Ms Sonia Gandhi and Party general secretary, Rahul Gandhi. Sources said that a section of Congress leaders which is hell bent in ousting Mr Abdullah hold his misgovernance responsible for the increasing secessionism in the state. This cadre while comparing the past Congress-PDP rule with present Government in the state said that the Government headed by Mufti Mohammed Syed was more responsive to peoples needs and problems in the state than any other Government led by NC.These leaders have opined that sooner the Government led by Omar Abdullah is ousted the better will be its its results. |
