Chidambram for extending support to the recent statement of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s in the state assembly. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of S Peter. In a statement here today, Peter stated that all controversy over the statement of Omar Abdullah should now come to an end. The meeting further said that Omar Abdullah had only made a statement of facts about J&K’s accession with India, which came in somewhat different background and circumstances from those in case of accession of other states with India taking place. Whereas, all other princely states exceeding to India eventually merged their identity and are no more known by their pre-independence name and status, Jammu & Kashmir did not merge its identity and still maintained the same name. The only difference is that some parts of the erstwhile united state of Jammu and Kashmir under Dogra rulers have been forcibly occupied by Pakistan through act of aggression. The same need to vacated through peaceful means, the association further added Meanwhile, they appealed to all the political parties and groups to support Omar Abdullah, cutting across party lines and differences in his fight against the separatist, divisive and anti-national forces in Kashmir.
