Educate ministers about JK issue, BJP to PM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 20: The leader of the BJP Legislators Party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta today urged the Prime Minister to have classes or make any other arrangement to educate his Ministers and other concerned engaged in dealing with the problems in Jammu and Kashmir . Gupta said that it was a sorry state of affairs that many of the Ministers and some others linked with the problems in this State are having little knowledge of the history and they indulge in talking which make the confusion compounded, he added and in this regard referred to the recent statements of the Minister for External Affairs and also that of the Home Minister itself. Addressing a meeting of the party activists of his Constituency, Prof Gupta alleged that being devoid of vision and national outlook, these leaders of the Congress fumbled and bungled on many issues linked with the unity and integrity of the country. The meeting was organised to prepare for the observance of the Accession Day, the October of 26th, 1947, when the Maharaja of the State, Hari Singh, had signed the Instrument of Accession and the Indian forces had landed Srinagar the very next morning. The brave soldiers made tremendous sacrifices and most of the areas were cleared from the Pakistani marauders. With this the future of this State was sealed with Indian Union, he maintained but regretted that certain leaders of the Congress as also their friends in the National Conference had been confusing the issue by making uncalled for controversial statements and promises. Prof Gupta assailing the controversial statement of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, in the State Assembly , observed that instead of taking due note of this speech it was intriguing that the Foreign Affairs Minister, S M Krishna, followed by the Home Minister, Shri P Chitabarum, do not find anything objectionable in it although the separatists leaders like Syed Ali Shah Geelani and some others too, have welcomed it by saying that this has vindicated their stand that Kashmir is a disputed state in which India, Pakistan and the people of this state are the stake-holders. This shows that either Shri Krishna and Chidambaram are ignorant about the facts of the history and does not understand the Indian stand at UNO. Prof. Gupta in this regard asked the Union Ministers and other concerned to go through the historic speech of Sheikh Mohd Abdullah on February 5, and also that of Shri Krishana Menon when he was Foreign Affairs Minister, in the Security Council as also the speeches of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukerjee on August 7, 1952, in addition to the clarifications of Shri Jawahar Lal Nehru in the Parliament over the issue of controversial Article 370, when he had assured the agitated members that this Temporary Provision would whither away with the passage of time.
