JJSF strike enters day 2 | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 20: Jammu Joint Students Federation (JJSF) activists continued its strike on the second consecutive day today on old campus premises of GCET, Jammu . They were protesting in favour of their demands and also against the misbehaviour of administration towards students. The students of GCET assembled at old campus early morning today and marched towards the principal’s office and raised slogans against college administration and state govt. The protest was led by Partap Singh Jamwal, state vice President JJSF. Later, the students put forth their problems which included poor lab facilities for which they have to go to MBS College or Government Polytechnic (Boys), no library facility, no college canteen and also no medical facility. The students also said that there was no sports week since 2007 and no activity through which students can express their hidden talent such as techfests, cultural, education tour. They said that even the hostel facility was not proper and meanwhile questioned that why the college was shifted to new building at Kot Bhalwal if the infrastructure was not proper. Later, JJSF activists ghereod the principal (GCET) while he was going in a VIP vehicle. JJSF leaders also contacted Director Higher Education Dr Sham Lal Gupta on phone who assured them that their problems would be solved as soon as possible. Meanwhile, JJSF gave an ultimatum of two days to the college administration and threatened to intensify the protest in case they fail to resolve their demands. Others present included Vikram Partap Singh, Sanjay Sharma, Vishal Sadotra, Neeraj Verma, Amman Deep Singh, Sumit Gupta .
