| Irfan helps Doda College reach QFs | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 20: Superb all round performance by Irfan Lone today guided Government Degree College Doda to a 13 runs win on way to the quarterfinals of the ongoing inter-college cricket tournament on the campus, here.
In the pre-quarterfinal, played today, Doda College defeated Government Degree College Kalotrian. Now, in the quarterfinal, to be played tomorrow morning, Doda College shall take on Trikuta Degree College.
Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Doda College set a target of 174 runs losing four wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Later, Kalotrian College could not reach the required total and ended their innings at 160 for six.
Irfan Lone was star performer with 61-ball 85 runs including six boundaries and a six. Zubair Hussain and Waqar Ashraf contributed 27 and 30 runs respectively. From Kalotrian College, Amir Wani took two wickets and Mohd Babar bagged one.
Batting second, Kalotrian College proceeded well but could not accelerate their innings to catch the required run rate and exhausted the allotted 20 overs for 160 runs with four wickets in hand.
Irfan Lone, who earlier batted well, emerged as most successful bowler with two for 19 runs in three overs. Shabir Ahmed also bagged two wickets.
Today’s match was officiated by Raj Kumar, Vijay Dogra and Manu Khajuria.
