Police on 'high alert' ahead of Darbar move | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 20: Ahead of festive season of Diwali and arrival of ‘Darbar’ here, Jammu police is on 'high alert' in the winter capital of the state. The police in city have been asked to remain more alert and vigilant with the upcoming annual Darbar move and Diwali festival, official sources here today said. ''The security has been tightened and check points have been strengthened as offices have to move from Srinagar on October 26 and reopen here on November 8,'' Randeep Kumar, Superintendent of Police (SP) North said. He said directions have been issued to the police stations concerned to maintain vigil and keep check on suspicious elements to scuttle ulterior motives . ''With darbar move, employees and the populace from the valley also shift to the winter capital. So we have appealed to the people to register details of the tenants to the police station concerned,'' the SP added. He further said, ‘‘The landlords should submit details and whereabouts of their tenants to the police station so that an appropriate verification can be done.'' Jammu Police is always at the service but without the cooperation of the people and awareness, it is not possible for them to act swiftly, the SP said adding, ‘‘Timely information of suspects or any mischievous element can help in averting major tragedy.''
