Mini Rajasthan fest begins | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 20: The two-day ‘Rajasthan Calling’ Mini Rajasthan Festival organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Rajasthan in a bid to further attract domestic tourists from tourist state of Jammu and Kashmir begun here in Jammu. The ‘Rajasthan Calling’ being held at the premises of Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha Complex , Parade, Jammu is part of the Rajasthan tourisms domestic tourism promotion campaign to be held in 19 major cities across the country Including Kotchi, Chennai, Murobai, Bangalore, Patna, Kotkatta, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad , Lucknow and Chandigarh. “The major reason for organizing Rajasthan Calling in Jammu is to give a feel of Rajasthan and facilitate a better understanding about the state and provide complete information and showcase the Rajasthan traditional culture and the exquisite range of Rajasthani Handicraft products and Rajasthani delicacies,” said Pawan Jain, Assistant Director, Department of Tourism, Rajasthan, adding, ‘The major highlight of the festival will be live dances and a food court”. ‘‘About 20 stalls depicting handicrafts, from various regions of the state are being showcased during the festival include Wooden Toys from Bassi Chittor, Terrace la from Siaya, Stone Artefacts from Banswara and Tichupada, Ajmer Ka Gota work, Aratari Zardozi work from Nyla village, Leather Items - Bags, Jutes etc from Jodhpur and Shinmal, Tie & Die from Akola, Brass Nakkashi and Forest Products from Barna,’’ Jain added. The Assistant Director, Rajasthan Tourism also deliberated upon various festivals, culture heritage, forts, palaces, lakes, fairs through presentation said, about 14.8 lakh foreign tourists and 283 lakh domestic tourist arrivals in year 2008 Rajasthan is easily one of the most sought-after tourist destinations in India.
