Installation competition held in display your talent contest

JAMMU, Oct 20: An Inter-collegiate-cum-departmental Installation competition was today organized by Department of Students of Welfare (DSW) of University of Jammu under the ongoing “Display Your Talent” contest 2010-11.
Installation entitled “Save Earth” by Sarang Vaid from the Department of Computer Science of University of Jammu clinched the first prize whereas the team from Government Women College (GWC) Parade consisting of Preeti Sharma and Mehak Bakshi, who installed “Effects of Climate Change”, secured second Prize and the Installation “Need of Education” by Narinder Kumar and Rohit Kumar, from Institute of music and fine arts bagged third prize.
Certificates of Merit were awarded to Kanwar Iqbal of Government Medical College, Jammu for his Installation “Feel the Difference” as well as Neha Jamwal and Shifali Gupta, the team from The Business School, University of Jammu for their Installation entitled “Women Empowerment”.
It may be mentioned here that Sarang used disposable plastic glasses to create effect of the earth and surgical gloves as two hands, requesting the people to save earth from hazardous plastic material. Global Warming was the main concern of Mehak and Preeti who depicted effects of climate change, showing dried tree with no birds chirping on its branches and barren land.
Jagpal Bandral, Suman Gupta and Suresh Sharma were experts for the said competition. Dr. Sanjay Bhatia, Teacher Incharge, made the participants conversant with the rules and regulations of the event and supervised the competition. Other participants included Babar Ahmed and Ragon Singh from Government Degree College (GDC) Doda, Pardeep Kumar Sharma from the Government MAM College, Amitoj Kour and Ambica Magotra, from the Government Women College (GWC) Udhampur, Rohit Sharma, from the GGM Science College (Morning), Inderpreet and Vikas Sharma from Department of Geology and Gourav Sharma and Joginder Singh from Department of Law, University of Jammu.
Event was managed by Dharam Pal Sharma, Assistant Registrar (SW), Gagandeep Sharman, Secretary Students Cultural Council, Gurpal Singh, Kulbhushan Thakur, Balwant Singh Slathia, Surinder Singh Bhalla, Satish Kumar Sharma, Rampal, Yashpal and Madan Lal.
