EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 20: The dreaded disease of dengue has made its entry into the state with at least four cases affected with the ailment reportedly admitted at Government Medical College & Hospital (GMC&H) here.
Four persons with symptoms of dengue were admitted in GMC&H. They have been identified as Uttam Sharma, Ward No 14 (Bed No 3), Ishan Gupta Ward No 9 (Bed No 6), Javed Ahmad and Ashwani Sharma.
According to sources, all these patients are suffering from Dengue which indicates an outbreak of the disease in the state. Preventive measures to check the spreading of Dengue should be applied on war footing otherwise we may witness a Delhi like situation here.
"There are indications that the patients admitted may be infected with Dengue but the confirmation will only come after the results of their reports reach from Microbiology department." said a senior Doctor on condition of anonymity.
Another senior doctor also divulged that there are reports of some patients admitted in the hospital but it is not clear whether the cases are positive or not.
"I heard some hush-hush voices today regarding few patients carrying the disease. The Microbiology department is in better position to tell what exactly the nature of the disease is" another senior doctor wishing anonymity told Early Times.
Meanwhile, when attempts were made to confirm the reported Dengue cases, the Medical Superintendent GMC&H Ramesh Gupta, could not be contacted on phone despite repeated attempts.
However, the Dy Medical Superintendent Manoj Chalotra when contacted said, " I am on leave…. I don't know the details."
Dengue, the mosquito born disease which is life threatening, had severely hit Delhi, the capital of the country, as hundreds of positive cases were reported there.
Barring few cases where patients with Dengue like systems were reported earlier but after conducting the tests of the patients, it was established that they were carrying some other diseases.
