Discrimination with Jammu now surfaces in BOSE | Full 2 yr extension given to Secretary; Chairman's fate still undecided | | Mishu Gupta EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 20: The discrimination with Jammu region is still unabated in the State at the behest of Kashmiri politicians. It's most recent example was pending approval to the extension of Prof Deshbandhu Gupta as Chairman of the State Board of School Education (BOSE). Prof Gupta's term as ended on October 17 and since then three days have been passed and he is awaiting directions from the higher ups whether to go or sit and carry on with his pending work. Reliably, the School Education Minister Peerzada Mohammed Sayeed took personal interest in granting an extension of full two year term to BOSE Secretary Dr Sheikh Bashir whereas, ignored the Chairman for the same. It is questionable as to how and why Peerzada granted extension of Bashir for such a big period. The Minister did this only because of the fact Bashir is his blue eyed boy and hails from Kashmir. But the poor Chairman Prof Gupta hails from Jammu so in the eyes of Kashmiri politicians he doesn't deserve the extension. Reliably, the Minister once had a stand off with the Chairman over delayed admissions in ETT institutes. The Chairman did not succumb to the Minister at that time, the score of which is being settled by Peerzada at this moment as he holds the key to his extnsion. It is an open secret that Prof Gupta took several landmark initiatives to streamline the functioning of Board. Thanks to those changes in the system the students and their parents from all across the state are quite comfortable and satisfied with the work style of Board. Even the relaunch of State Open School, which is again a landmark thing, besides many other reforms in the examination system, surveillance etc are still in pipeline and need some time for coming on the ground. If he goes at this stage all would be crumbled. However, the Minister has no consideration for such things and he was just busy in controlling the BOSE. When contaced for his comment on Prof Gupta's extension he puts the ball in Chief Minister's court and never gives out his opinion on extension to Jammu man. |
