APSEWF holds meet, put forth demands

JAMMU, Oct 21: A meeting of All Public Sector Employees and Workers Federation (APSEWF), Jammu was held here today which was attended by all the representatives of the workers working in different Public Sector Organization.
The organisations who participated in the meeting included J&KPCC , J&K SICOP, J&K SIDCO, J&K SFC, J&K HPMC, J&K Minerals, J&K Handloom, J&K Agro Industries, J&K SRTC, J&K Industries Ltd, J&K TDC, J&K SC, ST & BC etc.
Speaking on the occasion, the workers associated with different organizations criticized the attitude of the state government for imposing conditions while issuing orders for conversion of COLA into DA and implementation of 6th pay Commission to PSU employees.
In a statement here today, they stated that on one hand the Cabinet had approved these issues without any condition and on the other the order issuing authority had added conditions like seeking approval from full Board o Directors for implementation of these orders.
Some of speakers questioned that government should clarify their position whether the Board Of Directors are superior than the State Cabinet, is state government governed by the B.O.D or vice versa.
Meanwhile, it was unanimously resolved to further urge upon the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to look into the matter personally and redress the genuine pending demands of these employees as per commitment made by him.
Other demands included enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years, payment of arrears of 6th pay commission, regularization of daily rated, consolidated, ad hoc contractual workers, pensionary benefits for PSU's, benefits of 6th Pay Commission to the remaining PSU's such as Handloom, SRTC, JKI, Minerals, Agro and also waiver of conditions from the orders of conversion of COLA into DA.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Kuldeep Sharma, senior Trade Union leader and was also addressed by other prominent speakers such as Amrik Singh Sasan, Onkar Sharma, Joginder Paul, Jagjit Singh, Umesh, Som raj, Arun Tondon, Ashok Sharma, M.S Gupta, Rakesh Rampaul, Surjit Singh, Ashok Dutta, Mohd Iqbal, Baldev Raj, Nar Singh, Darshan Singh, Rajesh Khajuria, Anil Sharma, Ashok Anand, Parshotam, Karn Singh, C.L. Raina, Majaor Singh, Kamal Jeet Singh, Ramesh Bhat, Abudal Manan Bhat, Sham Lal and many others.
