J&K beat Himachal by one wicket

JAMMU, Oct 21: Losing first tie to Goa, hosts Jammu and Kashmir snatched a one-wicket win from visitors Himachal Pradesh to earn five points in the Under-122 Elite Group-C 4-day match for Col C K Nayudu Trophy played at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Needing 175 runs to win, J&K reached the required target in 83.4 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Manik Gupta played a match winning knock of unbeaten 46. In fact, it was eighth wicket partnership between Ram Dayal and Manik Gupta that brought hopes in the home camp. Both together added 42 valuable runs to steer J&K to victory.
Earlier, resuming their innings from overnight score of 67 for two, J&K faced Himachal bowlers bravely with Aditya Pratap Singh and Parvez Rasool kept the scoreboard moving. Both together added 80 runs for the third wicket partnership thereby bringing the total to 147 for three.
All rounder, Parvez Rasool made 46 runs and Aditya Pratap Singh contributed valuable 47 runs.
From Himachal Pradesh, Harminder Singh was most successful bowler (30.0-5-77-4) while Sumeet Verma claimed three wickets.
Meanwhile, in their third match, Jammu and Kashmir shall take on Hyderabad in Hyderabad from October 25. The team, with one or two changes, shall proceed for the venue tomorrow.
Meanwhile, president of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), Dr Farooq Abdullah has congratulated the under 22 team for their brave fight against to win the match. In a message to the captain, Pervez Rasool and his team from Delhi, Dr Abdullah said, “I congratulate you and your winning team and hope for an improved performance in rest of the three away matches.”
