| Ankur, Jobesh steer Trikuta College to semis | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 21: Sailing on superb performance from duo of Ankur Slathia and Jobesh, Trikuta Degree College today sailed into the semi-finals of the inter-college cricket tournament underway at University of Jammu (JU) grounds, here.
Now, in the semi-finals, to be played tomorrow, Trikuta College shall face the formidable side of PG Law and Sciences.
Earlier, in the quarterfinals, Trikuta College defeated Government Degree College Doda by a big margin of 95 runs. Batting first, after winning the toss, Trikuta College set a big target of 176 runs losing all their wickets in 19.5 overs.
Ankur was top scorer with 43-ball 72 runs including one six and ten boundaries while Kunal and Satyajeet contributed 29 and 15 runs respectively. From Doda College, Shabir Ahmed and Shakeel Ahmed claimed three wickets each. Sohan Singh took two wickets.
Batting second, Doda College could not chase the total and the whole side bowled out for 81 runs in 16.3 overs. Irfan Ahmed and Zubair Hussain were main scorers with 16 and 13 runs respectively. Jobesh was most successful bowler from Trikuta College who clinched four wickets for just 14 runs in four overs. Rohit Sharma also bowled well with three for 18 in four overs.
Today’s quarterfinal was officiated by Vijay Dogra, Vijay Kumar (umpires) and Manu Khajuria (scorer).
