| Global Iodine Deficiency Disorders Prevention Day celebrated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 21: Health education bureau, directorate of health services today organized a seminar to celebrate Global Iodine Deficiency Disorders Prevention Day at Jawahar Navodya Vidalaya (JNV) Nud in collaboration with Block medical officer Samba.
PS Slathia CMO Samba was the chief guest while guest of honour was Sham Gopal divisional nutritional officer Jammu.
Students of higher secondary school Nud also participated.
Rupali teacher of JNV Nud welcomed all the distinguished guests. The
function started with the welcome song sung by the students. Students
of JNV Nud and higher secondary school read their papers and they were
adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Divisional nutritional officer gave his views on prevention of the
iodine deficiency disorders.
Chief medical officer Samba highlighted the importance of the day and
informed the audience that IDD are the permanent and incurable but can
be prevented very easily by just consuming iodized salt daily.
Davinder Bakshi audio visual officer health education bureau also
spoke on the occasion. The vote of thanks was presented by Vikas
Bhardwaj block medical officer Samba. Others who were present on the
occasion were vice principal Sunita Gupta, principal higher secondary
school NUD PL Thappa, medical superintending, RS Wazir, Rakesh
Mangotra medical officer PHC Nud, Vandana Dogra medical officer ISM
Nud, prominent local leaders, Anganwari workers of block and staff of
health department.
