| MDF seeks road connectivity | | |
JAMMU OCT | 30 Marmat Development Forum (MDF) has demanded road connectivity with Sudhmahadev and Doda. Addressing a press conference here today, Anayat Ullah Lone, president of the forum said that they have been demanding road connectivity with Sudhmahadev for more than last ten years but government never paid attention to their genuine demands despite the fact that village Marmat enjoys the status of backward village. He further stated that some government offices like CDPO and Nayabtehsildar, which were awarded by the Wazir Commission to their village, are working in Khelani, which is near the road, merely ten kilometers away from Doda. Lone further demanded all the privileges of Block status to village Marmat. Drawing attention to wild almonds, which are an exclusive produce of the area, Lone said that despite of having medicinal value the plant is fast reducing in number because of negligence of Forest Department and Agricultural University. He also appealed the government to announce this special species of medicinal plant as danger species. Among others who spoke on the occasion were: Senior vice president of the forum, Prithivi Raj Manhas, Faiz Ullah Salaria, Thakur Kishan Singh and Abdul Aziz Khan.
