BJP questions political resolution from non political interlocutors | Says Cong silence on Omar statement intriguing | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 21: Indicating that BJP was not happy with the composition of three interlocutors for Kashmir, party National General secretary Vijay Goel today questioned as to what political solution Prime Minister intended to derive by appointing non political persons for the job. Asserting that entire nation considers Accession of J&K with India as final, BJP leader also questioned ‘eerie silence’ maintained by the Congress party over the recent statement made by the state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the issue of accession of Jammu and Kashmir with the Union of India.
“One fails to understand what kind of political resolution PM is expecting by appointing non political persons as interlocutors……..there is no political problem as such other than contesting for POK”, Goel said adding that BJP was skeptical about whatever success, is expected from the interlocutors. Prime Minister must explain to the nation what political reslolution UPA government is talking in context of Kashmir, he added. Goel who was here on his two day visit to the state, At the same time the senior BJP leader also demanded Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's resignation for what he termes as his failure to administer the state and controlling the activities of the separatist leaders which led to unrest.
Alleging that funds sent under special packages from Centre have been grossly misused, the BJP leader demanded the government should initiate an inquiry into each penny spent out of rupees eighty thousand ccrores given to state from 2001 onwards.
After his day long visit to Kashmir in connection with celebration of Accession Day on Wednesday, the senior BJP leader while addressing media persons here today observed that his assessment of Kashmir during the visit was that were the separartsist not Omar Abdullah who are ruling the state. Lashing out at Congress, Vijay Goel said,"it is very unfortunate that the Congress party, alliance partner in this coalition is avoiding to condemn directly the anti-India utterances by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah onthe floor of the House.
"Omar Abdullah is speaking one language in Delhi and entirely different language in Kashmir to suit his politics",he said adding Omar must understand that the merger of Jammu and Kashmir into India is final and a closed chapter and there is no scope for reopening it or put the clock back.
The BJP leader said We admit the fact that if there is something to be done it is to put an end to all the issues related there due to which this matter is raised again and again. The only thing which remains to be completed in this regard is to fulfill the promise conveyed by the constitution of India by describing Article-370 as temporary and hence abolish the same at the earliest. BJP and earlier Jan Sangh have been opposing from the very beginning grant of special statuses to Kashmir because it has always posed a challenge to the unity and integrity of Indian nation. The founder of India Jan Sangh Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee had sacrificed his life for this purpose. If all the citizens of the country are able to move into Jammu and Kashmir without any hindrance, the credit for it goes to the nationalist people of the country as well as our party.
Goel warned the National Conference, Congress and a few separatists active in the valley saying that BJP and the people of the country will not compromise on the Kashmir issue nor will allow anybody to do so. . Goel said time has come to realize the fact that the Kashmir valley is not the entire J&K state. The voice of Jammu, Laddakh and Gujjar, Bakarwal and all other areas besides the valley should be heard. BJP leaders Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, BJP state hief Shamsher Singh Manhas and former unit chief Ashok Khajuria were also present during the press conference.
