| SVO presents challan against Yash Pall, the then AAO | | |
JAMMU OCT-30- STATE Vigilance Organization (SVO) today produced a challan in the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption against Yash Pal, the then Assistant Accounts Officer PHE city Division, (presently under suspension), who was caught red handed while accepting illegal gratification. Acting on a verbal complaint lodged by Buta Mal son of Lala Kunj Lal Mahajan of Nanak Nagar alleging there in that the said AAO demanded Rs. 2000 for release of payment, a team of VO laid a trap and caught the AAO red handed while accepting bribe money. Giving details a official spokesman said that according to the complainant, who is a shopkeeper and acts as a supplier of GI/CI pipes, lead and other materials had supplied material to PHE City Division Ist, as per as per the supply orders, and bills worth Rs. 40000-50000 were pending in the said office for want of payment. On March 11 last the complainant visited the said office and met the concerned AAO who demanded Rs.2000 as bribe for releasing the payment in his favour and accordingly he paid the same amount to the AAO. The complainant further said that on March 13, when he again approached the said office and requested the AAO for release of payment, he again demanded Rs.2000 more. Following the complaint, a case FIR NO 8/2006 was registered on March 13 at Police Station against the accused Yash Pal son of Paras Ram resident of Kheri Tehsil Bishnah by the VOJ. He said that a vigilance team laid a trap and the said AAO was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs. 2000 as illegal gratification from the complainant in presence of the independent witnesses. The accused was arrested and was released on bail on March 17, 2006 by the order of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu. After completion of the investigation, the Vigilance Organization presented challan in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu against the accused presently under Suspension and attached with Deputy Director Accounts and Treasuries Jammu.
