| DC reviews Diwali arrangements | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Oct 22: Arrangements for celebration of Diwali in Udhampur were reviewed in a meeting of district officers of various departments and representatives of trade unions, held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Baseer Ahmed, here on Friday.
Threadbare discussions were held on the related arrangements like installation of cracker stalls, security, maintenance of law and order, traffic regulation, drinking water and power supply, sanitation, Medicare, checking of rates and quality of eatables and deployment of fire tenders.
The SSP Udhampur would deploy adequate police personnel in the town to check any untoward incident and Traffic Police to regulate traffic in the town to avoid congestion. He also called for making announcement in the town asking the shopkeepers not to sell crackers, illegally.
The meeting also decided that a joint team of officers of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Health, Municipality and Police headed by Naib Tehsildar would conduct frequent checks in the bazaars to keep a check on the rates and quality of products especially sweets and fruit items.
SSP Udhampur,. Surinder Gupta, Chief Planning Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineer, PHE, Assistant Director, CA & PD, Assistant Director, Fire Services, Dy. Controller, Civil Defence, Tehsildar (territorial and settlement), Udhampur, District Traffic Inspector and Presidents of Halwai and Fruit Unions, were present in the meeting.
