| Preparedness for Panchayat elections reviewed | | | Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Oct 22: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Udhampur Baseer Khan who is also the District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO) today convened a meeting of concerned officers.
Detailed discussions were held on the various issues which mainly include establishment of Election Cell at block level, procurement of list of employees to be deployed on election duty, transport and communication plan, physical verification of polling stations and summary revision of assembly Electoral Rolls, appointment and training of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) etc.
Issuing the instructions to the concerned officers, the District Panchayat Election Officer asked the Block Development Officers (BDOs) to furnish report of claims and objections filed by the electors at their respective block headquarters to his office on daily basis adding that there should be no delay in the disposal of the same as per the schedule already notified by the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K. He said that hand written supplements both in Hindi and Urdu be got prepared within a stipulated time frame.
Regarding physical verification of polling stations and communication plan, Khan directed the BDOs to modify the same, if necessary within five days. He instructed the concerned tehsildars (AERO) to furnish the revised lists of BLOs and their training schedule within five days so that a compressive plan for imparting necessary training to BLOs could be chalked out.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Surinder Gupta, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dr. Gurvinderjeet Singh, District Informatics Officer, Anil Sharma, District Panchayat Officer, Balbir Singh, Tehsildars, Block Development Officers and election related staff was present in the meeting.
