JAMMU, Oct 22: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today conducted surprise visit at Jammu Municipal Corporation, Jammu Development Authority and Directorate Local Bodies to review the functioning of these departments.
At JMC, the Dy, Chief Minister took stock of the revenue realization and directed the concerned officers to maintain proper record of cash entries so that all the records should be well maintained.
He asked the Commissioner JMC to check illegal constructions and demolish if raised unauthorizedly.
He asked the concerned officers to issue NOCs well in time so that the development works are completed in stipulated time frame.
Tara Chand also took stock of the funds available and works executed under various schemes. He also enquired about the completion of development works being executed by JMC in Jammu city.
He asked the officers to prepare a report of status of staff strength, their performance and submit the same to him alongwith the list of encroachment and list of violations of rules so that the action under rule can be taken against the defaulters.
Dy Chief Minister also visited Directorate of Local bodies office and took stock of the budget allotted and the utilization of funds thereoff under various development works.
He asked the concerned officers to personally visit field thrice a week so that the progress can be made in various development works. He instructed the officers to keep check on expenditure/income so that the department can serve the people in a transparent manner.
He said that committees be constituted to check proper utilization of funds.
This committee will also keep an eye on the overall functioning of the department.
He asked the officers to conduct frequent visits in their respective areas to check the illegal constructions and intimate to the concerned higher authorities in time.
Dy Chief Minister also visited JDA office and took stock of the works undertaken by the agency. He also took stock of the funds available under state plan and their utilization.
Later, he inspected JDA land behind Revira Hotel and took stock of the progress of work going on parking slots. He directed the officers concerned to construct a Joggars park for the convenience of the general masses.
Among others Commissioner JMC S C Sawhney, Director Local Bodies, FC Bhagat, vice chairman, JDA and other senior officers of concerned departments also accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister.
