| NC organize one- day convention at Bhalwal | | Sadhotra demands compensation to rain affected farmers | |
JAMMU OCT-30- STRESSING the need for assessing the losses suffered by the farmers in recent hailstorm and incessant rains in Jammu region in general and Bhalwal Block in particular, the National Conference President of Jammu Province Ajay Sadhotra has demanded grant of adequate compensation to the affected farmers. Addressing one day convention of Block office brearers, delegates and prominent party workers at Bhalwal, Sadhaotra expressed concern over the way the present regime was ignoring the people of the Kandi belt in all spheres. He alleged that people living in the kandi belt are facing great hardships in absence of basic amenities like drinking water, electricity, roads and medical facility. Referring to National Conference, he said the party is secular and is following the path shown by its founding father late Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah adding that the party under the leadership of Omar Abdullah would continue to fight for the rights of the people. Rachpal Singh MLA in his address said that the unrest among the youth due to rise in unemployment is reaching at alarming point and cautioned the government that if the problems of the youth are not taken care, there is every apprehension that they might adopt some other methods which shall be dangerous for the state and the country. He asked the youth to be united and strengthen the hands of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah. Among others who addressed the convention included Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Vice President, Chander Mohan Sharma District President Jammu Urban, Ashok Singh Manhas and Subash Bhagat Corporators, sarpanches of the Block besides other senior party activists. A Party handout said that on this occasion, Krishen Chand retired Inspector of Bhalwal joined the National Conference.
