| 1 killed, 2 hurt by lightning | | | JAMMU: Lightning struck three remote areas of the region early this morning, killing a man and wounding two others, including a 20-year-old girl.
Rattan Singh (37), son of Thakur Dass, was working in a cattle shed in his house at Galiot in Pancheri, Udhampur, when he was killed by lightning at about 9 am.
Rattan died instantly, police sources said and added that his two sheep were also killed.
Hafeeza Bano (20), daughter of Gulzar Ahmad of Aftan Marg in Gool, Ramban, sustained burns after lightning struck their house in the wee hours of today morning.
As Aftan Marg is a far-flung area of Gool, Hafeeza was taken by her family members to a nearby army camp where army doctors provided her medical treatment.
Gulam Nabi was injured by lightning at Purliya in Kalakote area of Rajouri. The incident occured when lightning struck their residence, the sources added.Nabi was hospitalised.
Meanwhile, three transformers of power development department got damaged by lightning due to which electric supply was affected in some areas of Jammu district. |
