Separatists given full freedom to preach secession, nationalists booked & thrashed | Delhi's Bungling Instinct | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 22: The authorities in New Delhi bungled yesterday and alarmed the whole of the nation. They made the world believe that India is a banana republic where the separatists enjoy full freedom to preach secessionism and communalism and nationalists carrying tri-colour in their hands and raising pro-India slogans are booked, thrashed, punished and humiliated. Indeed, the authorities in the South and North Blocks and in the Delhi Government have allowed the separatists - Kashmiri and Maoist - to covert the Union Capital into a den of anti-national and break-India activities. How else should one interpret the manner in which the authorities allowed pro-Pakistan Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Maoists and anarchists Arundhati Roy and Varvara Rao, separatists from Manipur and Nagaland and hundreds of Kashmiri separatists drawn from the Jamia Milia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University and Delhi University to pour venom on India and the manner in which those protesting against these separatists and terrorists and demanding their arrest were hounded out of the LTG auditorium complex near Mandi Houe( New Delhi), ill-treated and arrested at the behest of Parliament House attack accused S A R Gilani, who moderated the seminar organized to promote secession in the very heart of New Delhi? It is not necessary to refer to here what Geelani and other Kashmiri separatists said in the LTG Auditorium. For, they only reiterated what they have been saying since decades. Everyone in the country knows that they want to de-link Jammu and Kashmir from India and establish in the de-linked state Islamic rule. However, it is necessary to refer to here what the terrorist Arundhati said. She said: "Kashmir should get Azadi from bhookhe-nange Hindustan…India needs Azadi from Kashmir and Kashmir from India. It is a good debate that has started. We must deepen this conversation and am happy that young people are getting involved for this cause, which is their future. Indian Government is a hollow super power and I disassociate with it…Earlier we used to talk about our head held high and now we lay prostrate to the US…Kashmiris have to decide whether they want to be with or get separated from 'bhookhe-nange Hindustan'…I am also aware of the stories about Kashmiri Pandits. I must tell you that Panun Kashmir is a false group." As for S A R Gilani, he said: "The demand of Kashmir Azadi not only meant the Kashmir Valley but the entire Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh…" What Roy and Gilani and others said in the LTG Auditorium was an open sedition. The police force was there in strength. They should have immediately swung into action and arrested them on the charge of sedition. Had they undertook such an activity in China, they would have been shot dead then and there. The attitude of the United States, Pakistan, Russia, France, Germany, England, Japan or any other state worth its name would have been the same. But, no, the authorities in New Delhi thought otherwise. They permitted the Islamic radicals and dreaded Maoists to abuse, humiliate, insult and condemn the Indian State. On the contrary, the police at the behest of their political bosses in New Delhi pounced upon the displaced Kashmiri Hindus, including women like a Panun Kashmir activist Nancy Koul, who had gathered there in strength in the auditorium to defeat the separatists' sinister game plan. They were forcibly evicted from the premises of the LTG Auditorium and some of them were roughed up and arrested under the direction of Gilani. It is very important to note that the separatists had booked the LTG Auditorium not for what they did in the auditorium. They had booked the auditorium telling the concerned authorities that wanted to organize a cultural event comprising musical programme, drama and so on. On the contrary, the Committee for the Release of Political Prisoners (CRPP), which organized the programme, converted the same into the convention on "Azadi - The only Way." It is disgusting and atrocious that such break-India activities are taking place in the capital of the country and the custodians of the Indian State pampering the separatists in the name of Islam; in the name of justice and under the guise of freedom of speech. Something is fundamentally wrong with the custodians of the Indian State. What happened yesterday in Delhi is a slap on the face of the Indian authorities. In fact, they have brought disgrace to themselves and to the Indian nation by first letting the separatists to organize a rabidly anti-India event and then allowing them to go scot-free, as also by ensuring the forcible eviction of the pro-India elements from the venue of the anti-India event. The only silver-lining is that there are people in Delhi hailing from Jammu and Kashmir who have the courage to take on the separatists and champion the national cause overlooking threat to their life and limb. Their courage and determination needs to be appreciated by one and all. Why didn't the concerned LTG Auditorium authorities prevent the CRPP from organizing such an anti-India event? Were there certain elements within them who were hand-in-glove with the separatists? Who prevented the police from taking action against the separatists or from arresting them under the charge of sedition? Why did not the authorities in the South and North Blocks and in the Delhi Government direct the police to take action against the Islamic radicals and separatists and Maoists? These are some of the questions which need to be answered by the authorities. There has to be a full-fledged inquiry into the circumstances under which the separatists could organize such a seditious activity in the Union Capital. Responsibility needs to be fixed and those responsible for facilitating the separatists' task must be punished so that a right signal goes to everyone that New Delhi would not tolerate anyone who indulges in anti-national activities or gives his/her overt and covert support to the separatists. |
