EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 22: Quick on the heels of yesterdays seminar organized by pro-separatist elements in Union Capital, a seminar was also organized by the nationalist organizations in New Delhi today to declare the accession of J&K State with India final and irrevocable.
Over 500 prominent people like scholars, intellectuals, and activists of various social and political organizations besides over 100 Muslims from Jammu and Kashmir participated in the seminar and declared that J&K is an integral part of India. The seminar among others was also
addressed by former Governor of J&K Mr Jagmohan and BJP leader and former Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Najma Heptula. The seminar was organized by Forum for Integrated National Security (FINS) in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Vichar Manch, Himalayan
Parivar, Delhi Study Group, Bharatiya Gramin Parishad, J&K Peace Foundation and Muslim Rashtriya Manch at Moulankar Hall, Rafi Marg, Janpath, New Delhi on the topic current situation in Kashmir.
The leaders, while expressing their grave resentment over the recent statement of Chief Minister of the state challenging the state's merger with Indian Union in State Assembly accused him for the present turmoil in Kashmir Valley. ``It was the wrong governance and wrong
policies of the National Conference-Congress coalition Government in the state that led to present lawlessness in Valley'', alleged the speakers. They blamed Omar Abdullah for his total failure in delivering the goods and coming to the expectations of the people in the state. They alleged that growing corruption and mismanagement has generated a lot of resentment among the masses who have taken a banner of revolt
against the Government.
The Muslim leaders from the state including Engineer Ghulam Ali, Ashraf Azad, Khalida Begum, Maqbool Malik and Farooq Ganderbali lashed out at those political parties in the state and separatists for challenging the accession of the state with Union of India. Terming
the accession as full and final, the Muslim leaders from the Valley accused some vested elements for misleading the people of Kashmir. Addressing the seminar Mr Jagmohan said Kashmir problem has been created by certain vested elements while the majority people of the
Valley are peace loving. He said the politicians who ruled the state have ignored the basic problems of people that led to present unrest among them.
Najma Heptulla held the wrong policies adopted by the Central Government responsible for present turmoil in the Valley. She said had the elections in 1987 not rigged the situation could have been quite different in the Valley at present.
The speakers also took serious exception to the holding of seminar by some pro separatist elements in New Delhi yesterday and harassment of the nationalist elements by police who were protesting against the participation of Hurriyat hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
They said 85 percent people in the state including Dogras of Jammau, Gujjars, and Bakerwals, Shia Muslims, Paharis, Kashmiri Pandits, people of Ladakh and members of Sikh community are totally against the so called Azadi and separatists. They warned the Government for giving
any concession to separatists leaders and criticized it for the rehabilitation of stone pelters and surrendered militants. They said the nationalist forces are ready to give any sacrifice for
the unity and integrity of the nation and they will never allow the separatists to succeed in their vicious designs. They also accused the Congress led UPA Government at Delhi for backing Omar Abdullah's wrong policies and warned it that this will prove inimical to national
cause. Col (reted) K S Juneja senior leader of the FINS also spoke in the seminar.
