EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 22: The Pacca Danga police have registered a case against non-governmental organization 'Youth Movement for Peace' for allegedly kidnapping some cloudburst-hit children from Leh.
The case has been registered following complaints by the parents of 27 children who were brought to Jammu by the NGO through alleged fraudulent means.
In their complaints, the parents said the NGO distributed blankets, medicines and clothes among them after the cloud burst on August 6.They alleged that after the completion of their task in Leh, the members of the NGO disappeared from the scene along with the
children without informing them.
For the last two months, they were searching for their children in Leh. They said they came to know about the presence of their children in Jammu through media.
On the basis of the complaints, police registered a case under sections 363, 365, 344, 420 and 120-B of RPC against the members of the NGO.
Police sources identified three of the members as Vikas Sharma, Meenakshi and Ranjana.
Sources said police were all set to conduct a raid on the NGO headquarters at Reshamgarh Colony and Dogra Hall after midnight to arrest its members.
Sources said the children were most probably brought here for their conversion to some other religion. The NGO was already in controversy for its such alleged acts.
Some time back, people had gheroed the Dogra Hall office of the NGO and shouted slogans against its members. The inquiry in this connection was initiated by a police team on the
directions of DIG Farooq Khan.
