Great start by J&K boys, poor beginning by girls | 23rd Sub-junior National Softball Championship | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 23: Host Jammu and Kashmir boys today made a great start by winning both their league matches while girls faced a defeat in the hands of Maharashtra in the ongoing 23rd Sub-junior National Softball Championship at MA Stadium, here today. The well equipped side of state boys trounced Uttrakhand and Pondichery to consolidate their position in the group. The visiting Uttrakhand side was beaten in a one sided contest. After winning the toss and opted to field first J&K pitchers supported by the fielders did an excellent job restricting the rival team to a low score. Later, the batters played superbly to register a big 12-02 homes win. From J&K, Pushpinder Singh Manhas scored maximum three homes while Jaskaran contributed two. Amit and Vishal also scored a home each. In another match played in the evening session, J&K blanked Pondicherry 10-0 to register their second consecutive win in the league round. Maharashtra girls did not allow the opponent to even open the account winning the tie 6-0.
