Bhalla launches over Rs 1 cr works across Jammu

JAMMU, Oct 23: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today launched Rs 1.02 crore works in various parts of Jammu district, besides conducting an extensive tour of
R S Pura Tehsil to take stock of the level of damages caused to standing paddy crop in the border Tehsil following recent hail storm.
Minister for Medical, technical Education, Youth Services and Sports, R S Chib also accompanied him to R S Pura where they visited various areas to take on the spot assessment of damages to the crop.
Earlier, Bhalla launched the work on Rs 40 lakh water supply scheme at Karan Bagh. The proposed scheme envisages lifting of water from at Gadhigarh Rani Talab Tube Well and its further distribution in the locality by laying a fresh network of water supply pipes. Elaborating on the scope of the scheme, the Minister said that besides making provisions of water lifting, supply pipes would be laid to cover the areas faced with water scarcity.
Earlier, work on the construction of boundary wall at Children's grave yard at Qasim Nagar ward No 7 involving a cost of Rs 17 Lakh was started in the presence of the minister.
Likewise, the minister also laid foundation stone of Sulabh Public convenience in the locality to be completed at a cost of Rs 14 lakh. He also launched the pre-mixing of road and renovation work of lanes and drains at old Shiekh Nagar Bagh-e-Bahu to be completed at a cost of 25 lakh on the fencing around the statue of Maharaja Hari Singh at Bahu Fort to cost Rs 6 lakh.
At Bazigar Basti , in Bahu fort area the minister handed over a check of Rs 1 lakh under CMR-relief fund to next of kin of Banu Kumar who died recently after suffering electric shock by accidently touching a live wire suspending down an electric pole.
Later at R S Pura, Raman Bhalla accompanied by Minister for Medical Education, R S Chib, DDC Jammu M K Dwivedi, SDM R S Pura Ashwani Khajuria and other senior officers of revenue visited various areas of Tehsil and took stock of crops loss.
The Minister assured that the government would extend every help to the affected farmers adding that it would soon conduct a survey to ascertain the losses which would be followed by processing of compensation cases.
