| Dealers duping farmers in sale of fertilizers | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 23: DESPITE the tall claims of the Agricultural department to provide proper facility to the farmers, the reality is entirely different on the ground. One such glaring example of this official apathy is village Nud of district Samba.
The fertiliser dealers are charging exorbitantly for DAP fertilizers from the farmers defying rate list recommended by the concerned department. The prescribed rate of the DAP fertiliser is RS 522.38 whereas the dealers of the said area are taking RS 560 for the same.
It is pertinent to mentioning here there are many villages including Nud, Purani kali, Sarian,Janda, Thanth, Dhora and Satah which are dependent for fertilizers's supply on the dealers of the Nud village.
Notably,Jammu province is an agricultural state as 70 percent people are totally dependent on the farming but they are being exploited.
Locals alleged that the dealer does not provide them fertiliser on time and if they provide fertiliser, they take extra charges. They urged the concerned department to take stringent action against the dealers.
Deputy Director of Agriculture department, Ashok Malhotra stated that they have shortage of the fertilizer for the last few months but if the dealers are taking extra charges, people should report to the department. |
