| Police constable among three abducted in Gulabgarh, one killed | | HM Div. Commander, close associate of Salal-u-Din, eliminated in Doda. | |

THE dreaded militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) received a severe jolt when it’s Divisional Commander and highest ranked terrorist and a close associate of Syed Salah-u-Din, supreme commander of United Jehad Council; Pakistan, was eliminated in a surgical operation at Doda. Some unidentified militants kidnapped three civilians, including a police constable, and later killed one of them in Reasi area of Udhampur district. A cache including 3 Kg of RDX was recovered in Chingus area of Rajouri district.
A Police hand out said that District Police Doda in a joint operation with 4 RR eliminated the Divisional Commander of HM outfit identified as Noor Mohammed code Javed Bargi son of Badru Din resident of Nandna Thathri in an encounter at Pamwah Chirala in Doda.
The slain militant was a close associate of Syed Salah-u-Din and had remained with him in Pakistan for seven years.
A Defence spokesman said that on a specfic information the slain militant was likely to visit his in laws’ house in village Panchraba near Thatri to meet his wife and one year old son .An ambush was laid by 4 RR troops since October 29 while the militant Noor Mohammed Mir made his appearance at 4.20 pm yesterday and after a fierce fire fight lasting nearly 20 minutes, he was eliminated. One pistol along with two magazines and a radio set was recovered from the encounter site.
The slain militant had joined militancy in 1992 and was the bodyguard of Supreme Commander of HM Syed Salahuddin and had come to Doda only in 2004, when the top leadership of HM had been eliminated, to fill the vacuum. The slain militant, an IED expert, had a strong network of OGWs, which provided him information and is reported to have master minded the last three grenade blasts in Kishtwar town, the spokesman added.
In the meanwhile, some unidentified militants during the intervening night of Oct 29-30, kidnapped three persons namely Nissar Ahmed son of Abdul Rashid, Bashir Ahmed son of Abdul Rashid and Constable Abdul Rehman son of Jamal Din presently posted at Police Station Gool from their residences at village Shadole Gulabgarh area of Tehsil Mahore.
The militants later killed one of the kidnapped civilian identified as Nissar Ahmed while Bashir Ahmed sustained injuries. The whereabouts of the abducted constable Abdul Rehman were still unknown, the hand out said adding that further details were awaited when the reports last came in.
A Defence spokesman claimed that two civilians of Ranglean of Gulabgarh, who reportedly resisted being taken for forcible recruitment by the terrorists, were shot at while attempting to run away. One of them, who received gunshot wounds in right thigh, expired while another youth sustained gun shot wounds on his left leg below the knee was out of dander. The operation was still in progress, when the reports last came in, the spokesman added.
In the meantime, Police party from Chingus led by DSP Headquarters conducted a search operation in Chingus forest area in Rajouri district and recovered one UBGL, three grenades, one Pistol along with a magazine, three Kg of RDX, one AK magazine, one wireless set and 740 rounds of AK ammunition.
