Cong celebrates victory in Leh | | | Early Times Report LEH, Oct 23: Thousands of party supporters along with newly elected councilors today gathered at Polo Ground to celebrate victory. In a handout issued here today, it has been said that all the twenty one councilors thanked the people of Leh for reposing faith in them. It needs to be mentioned here that on October 16, fourth general elections were held for Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC). The battle was mainly between Congress and PDP. Thereafter, the results were announced on October 21 wherein Congress emerged as the majority party by winning all the 21 seats out of 26. Addressing the function, Minister of Tourism Nawang Rigzin Jora said that it is the victory of common people of Ladakh. He thanked Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and former Chief Minister Gulam Nabi Azad for their kind support. Rigzin Spulbar who won from two constituencies was declared as new Chief Executive Councilor (CEC). He too thanked the public for their support. Senior congress leader from Leh Mohammed Shafi Lasu hit back at former Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) Tsering Dorjay asking him to think before making wild allegations.
