| Arrangements for Diwali fest reviewed | | | EARLY TIMES report
SAMBA, Oct 23: Arrangements for Diwali festival were reviewed at the district officers meeting of various departments and representatives of industries and trade unions. The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Samba, R C Sharma here today.
It was decided that permission for sale of fire crackers to the wholeseller shall be granted by District Magistrate and for retail sale by EO Municipality in urban area and by Naib-Tehsildar of concerned Nibat in rural areas.
The quality control of food items being procured/sold at different towns, deployment of food inspectors by Health Department and Municipal Committee and checking squads of other officers for checking the rates and quality of eatable items, medical arrangements, supply of uninterrupted power, positioning of fire tenders, cleaning and sanitation drive by municipalities, besides illumination of chowks and rotaries by the trade and industrial associations were also discussed.
It was decided that to give festive look to the town of Samba, the Executive Officer of Municipal Committees in association with the traders will launch sanitation drive and over look the arrangement of illumination etc to be made. |
