EARLY TIMES report Jammu, Oct 23: The relevant contents with regard to the "Population Growth", correct pronunciation, modulation of voice and impressive presentation, fetched the first prize for Zain-ul-Abdeen Bandey from the Department of Political Science, University of Jammu in an Inter-Collegiate Elocution Competition conducted by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu under the "Display Your Talent". Pholina Singh Kala and Pryati Sharma, both from Govt. Women College, Gandhi Nagar, were adjudged second and third respectively. Sanjeet Bhagat from Govt. M.A.M College (Morning), Rani Kumari from Department of Botany, University of Jammu and Suneeta Devi form Govt. Women College, Udhampur were awarded certificates of merit. The participants were required to speak for five minutes on the given topic with in the time span of the five minutes. Some of the interesting topics given in the competition were "Should Boys learn to Cook", "Regionalism", "Patriotism", "Global Warming", "Environmental Pollution", "The Nature", " Say No to the Polythene Bags", "Reservation for Women", "Population Growth", "Indian Women", "Women Empowerment", "Youth Unrest", "Nuclear Energy", " Prevention is better than Cure", "Today's Leadership", "Caste and Politics in India", "Criminalization of Politics", " Regionalism", "India Lives in Villages", "Self Confidence", " Child Labour", "Corruption in Judiciary", "Discipline among the students", "Donate Eyes See Beyond Life", " India: A Vibrant Democracy ", "Commonwealth Games-2010", "Reality Shows on Television" and "Impact of Print and Electronic Media on Society". Prof. Zahur-ud-Din, Dr. Satnam Kour and Jagdish Chander were the adjudicators for the event. Mrinali Atrey from the Law School, University of Jammu, teacher in-charge, apprised the participants about the rules and regulations as well as supervised the competition. The programme was compeered by Madhvi Sharma, Shafali Gupta while Kulbhushan Thakur and Gagandeep Sharma acted as the time keepers. |
