Training- cum-workshop on disaster management concludes

Jammu, Oct 23: A five days training- cum-workshop which was organized by NSS units of GGM Science College Jammu in collaboration with civil defence department concluded.
Today's session started with an impressive lecture by Dy. Divisional Warden Jammu Alok Nanda president medal holder, on the subject "First-Aid". He dwelt at length on the topic and made the event impressive by active participation of NSS volunteers. Later an impressive and effective lecture was delivered by M.A.Malik HOD Geology University of Jammu, on the topic "Living with Earthquakes". He mentioned various precautions to be undertaken prior, during and after earthquake. Later an interactive deliberation was taken up by inspector Khushwant Singh from Traffic Department Jammu on management of road traffic and general rules & regulations. This was followed by a live demonstration by the civil defense personals on Disaster Management. Various demonstrations like "First Aid" fire fighting rescue operation were performed by civil defence personals. After that instructor Ram Chand and Sudershan Saini instructed the volunteers how to react in disaster and how to help the needy masses at the time of disaster.
In the valedictory function which was presided by principal M.S.Baloria chairperson NSS units appreciated the role of civil defence and asked for spreading of this message to society, so that the number of people can be saved at the time of any disaster. Dy Controller Civil Defence Khalil-Ur-Rehman was the chief guest on this occasion. He appreciated the role of NSS volunteers and asked for holding such workshop in future also.
More than 50 NSS volunteers from morning shift and 50 from evening shift of the college participated.
The entire programme was organized under the able guidance of NSS programme officers Rajinder Sharma and V.K.Chandan.
NSS Commander Sumit Kumar Dogra and Mohd.Arif led the team of volunteers Parveen Sharma,Ankush Verma,Rahul Thakur, Anu, Preeti, Rifat, Rohit, prikshit and Navjot Bakshi assisted to organize the workshop well.
