Mysterious murder worked out, one held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 23: Samba Police have solved a mysterious murder case within a month by arresting the main accused who committed the crime on September 27. The arrested accused has been identified as Pankaj Gupta alias Jony son of Subash Chander Gupta of Pathankot (Punjab). Pankaj had murdered a woman and decamped with cash, jewellery and mobile phone from the house of victim. Police spokesman said, the deceased identified as Tara Rani wife of Sham Lal Gupta of Trilokpur, Jakh, Tehsil and district Samba was found murdered at her residence on Septemebr 27. On receipt of the information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to hospital for legal formalities. Subsequently, police started investigation and it was observed by the Police team that the cause of behind murder is theft as the accused fled away from the house after committing the crime along with cash, jewellery and a mobile phone. During course of investigation, the information developed by the police through reliable sources that accused had gone out of state and he kept on changing his locations frequently from one state to another and also kept on changing his mobile phone along with the SIM card whenever he went to the new state or location. But police kept a track of his movements continuously and after a lot of toil SSP Samba JL Sharma dispatched three teams to the different states. At last, one of the teams succeeded in nabbing the accused from Delhi. The accused was put to sustained interrogation where he broke down and confessed his heinous crime. Upon his disclosure stolen property viz jewellery and mobile phone as well as the weapon of offence was recovered. |
