JKPF celebrates Sankalap Divas, says 'Accession irrevocable' | | | Early Times Report Udhampur Oct 24: In connection with Accession Day celebration from 24 to 31 October throughout to state the Jammu and Kashmir People's Forum (JKPF) today held a public meeting in which professor Ajit Singh was chief guest. A fervent appeal was made to the people of the Jammu region to observe the Accession Day on October 26 in a festive mood by hoisting National flags, illuminating entire area, bursting crackers and distributing sweets. Speakers also appealed the state government to declare a state holiday on Accession Day. They said the Accession Day will be celebrated all over the Jammu region from October 24 to October 31 as Sankalap Divas by organization. Public meetings in which activists of all social, political and religious organizations took part were held today. State Secy BJP, Pawan Gupta said the Instrument of Accession signed by Maharaja on October 26 and ratified by the Constituent Assembly was a testimony to the fact that J&K is an integral part of India. He said the instrument of Accession was also signed by Lord Mountbatten the then Governor General of India on behalf of Indian Government. He accused the successive rulers at State and Congress led Governments at Centre for creating unnecessary confusion about the accession by their wrong and ill motivated statements. Vikram Slathia said the nationalist forces in the state and rest of the country strongly condemn this attitude of ruling elite. He also appealed people of entire nation to celebrate the Accession Day in a befitting manner to dispel any confusion. He demanded abrogation of Article 370 and implementation of Parliament resolution of 1994 and demanded that J&K be treated at par with rest of the states and there should be no special status to state, which is root cause of all problems. |
