Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 24: Jammu and Kashmir has been allotted the 22nd edition of the Sub-junior National Kabaddi (boys and girls) Championships to be held at MA Stadium, here from November 10 to November 13 under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Amateur Kabaddi Association. As many as 28 states have already confirmed their participation for the mega event to be held on league-cum-knockout basis. This was stated by president of the Association, Chaman Lal Gupta while addressing a press conference called to share the details, here this morning. The media briefing was chaired by the Minister for Sports, R S Chib. "About 28 states have confirmed their participation for the championships. Since both boys and girls events are being hosted, we have made separate arrangements for their stay. While boys shall stay in city hotels, the girls are to be accommodated at Youth Hostel Nagrota," said president of the Association, Chaman Lal Gupta. The participating states included Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerela, Hyderabad, West Bengal, Manipur, Goa, Uttrakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Jharkhand, Pondic-herry, Chattisgarh, Karnataka, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland. "To further promote the game, we shall be holding toss with silver coin with winner getting it up to semifinals level. In the finals, there will be a toss by gold coin," disclosed the president. To prepare the state teams, the Association has already invited the budding players for the trials, which will be followed by a coaching camp of the selected probable under the guidance of experts in the field. "We will raise competitive teams so as to make state's presence field on the field. We are confident to reach the semi-finals," asserted general secretary of the J&K Amateur Kabaddi Association, Kuldeep Gupta. |
