NMC demands release of 6th pay commission arrears | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 24: Demanding release of 6th pay commission arrears, the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) has appealed to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to provide the amount overdue along with pending installment of 10 percent Dearness Allowance (DA) from July this year to state government employees and pensioners before Diwali and Eid-ul-Zuha. Addressing a rally of NMC workers here today, its president Subash Shastri said that the state government has already provided funds for this purpose in the current financial year and said that by releasing this installment, the salaried class will have a sigh of relief as the rising prices of essentials commodities have already crossed the price index, which has created number of hardships to them. Shastri appreciated the Chief Minister and his all cabinet colleagues for timely implementation of the 6th Pay Commission, release of previous DA Installments, enhancement of wages of daily wagers from Rs 70 to Rs 110 per day. He hoped that this financial year should be the year of daily wagers adding that their services should be regularized in one go. He said the implementation of the report has developed a good rapport between the Government and the employees. Shastri hoped that Chief Minister would pay special attention to the other pending demands of the working class especially of those who have been employed daily wagers but were not regularized even after the expiry of seven to fifteen years of their services. Release of wages of motivators working in IWDP besides their regularization, Conversion of COLA into DA of PSU's employees, Issuance of Orders of 180 Daily Wagers working in Rural Development Department, regularization of services of the employees working in sericulture and other departments, casual labourers working in PWD Department be continued and considered for regularization, Seasonal Labour Working in Irrigation Department of Akhnoor & other Divisions be adjusted against the posts of Baildars and the pending wages of Daily Rated workers of Trikuta Hills Social Forestry Department be released at the earliest were other demands highlighted in the rally.
