Advance party of Durbar arrives to a 'relaxed' atmosphere …! | Facelift provides succour to Jammuites too | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 24: Amid a flurry of activity going on in the winter capital for the past one fortnight Jammu welcomed the advance party of Durbar Move which arrived today. Some officials of the advance party deputed by respective departments reached Jammu on Saturday to a relaxed and relieved atmosphere in terms of both weather conditions as well as the contrasting situation in the two winter capitals. The advance party mostly comprises officers and employees belonging to Jammu region who arrive in the winter capital soon after the Durbar schedule gets finalized. This year almost all the employees belonging to Jammu region will start arriving from Monday . The offices will formally close on October 29 in Srinagar. Arrival of advance party ahead of main Durbar is no new a phenomenon , nor is it holding any new package in its fold this year to make a mention. What makes things different this time however, remains the fact that all the officials and employees who reached Jammu today are heaving a sigh of relief on many counts. For the last over three months the employees, particularly from Jammu region who stay in hotels in Srinagar could not move freely as in previous years and remained mostly confined due to the disturbed conditions, continued spell of curfew as also the long stretched period of agitations. Many of them had in fact been awaiting eagerly the closure of the offices so that they could come back to homes and join their families in Jammu. This desire was also cherished by many Kashmir based officials who have been feeling disturbed on many fronts due to the prevalent circumstances which affected normal life badly in Valley. "I shifted along with my family on the first day of movement of Advance Party……I was awaiting this moment particularly for my ailing parents", said Mohammad Jan of Peer Bagh Srinagar. Almost all the employees are eagerly awating to shift to wonter capital soon…..the festival of Eid falling in mid November is holding many back, said another employee working in civil secretariat. Jammu based Durbaris including babus and mantris, besides employees are all set to be here before or by last week of October mainly for the reason that they would celebrate Diwali along with their families like every year in their hometowns. The festival of lights falls on November 5 where as the Durbar will reopen on November 8.While the entire Jammu city is being spruced up for welcome of Durbaris these days, it the Civil Secretariat, the main seat of governance which, like every year is getting special facelift in its every nook and crany. Be it the officials of Estates Department which takes lead in facelifting job, the employees of almost all the related departments are working overnight to put everything in place in terms of provoding facilities like un interrupted electricity, water, smooth roads, well furnished office cabins as also the posh and plush residential complexes for Durbaris. In the heart of their hearts, Jammuites are happy as their mohallas , streets and the main roads are getting rid of filth and garbage, encroachments and many other unwanted activities , even if it is all meant for Durbaris ! |
