BJP sour over Padgaonkar’s remarks | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 25: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday took exception to the remarks made by the interlocutors’ group headed by Dileep Padgaonkar on Pakistan, saying that they are dabbling on issues which are against the mandate given to them. “Padgaonkar’s statements that ‘we have been engaged with Pakistan, every successive Governments in India is engaged with Pakistan on this issue and it is not the question of internationalization, it is a bilateral dispute which has been going on since 1947 and 48 and a dialogue with Pakistan is as necessary as the dialogue with the people of the state-create doubts whether these interlocutors are really carrying forward the stated agenda or they are on some other mission,” BJP state spokesperson, Nirmal Kamal said in a statement here. She further said, “It also raises questions on what exactly is the brief to these interlocutors by Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on J&K.” The BJP leader said the team of interlocutors should not forget that the dispute with Pakistan is only about Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PAK) and India has to engage in dialogue with the neighbouring county only on this issue. “The interlocutors may be well aware that there are 24 seats vacant in J&K Legislative Assembly for PAK, which again strengthens the resolve of the people of J&K to take back the other side of Kashmir, which is forcibly occupied by Pakistan,” she said. She suggested the team of interlocutors not to create doubts among the people of the state by raking up issues which have controversial dimensions and restrict their work to meeting different shades of opinion, including women, youth and displaced communities right from 1947, in all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
