JKNPP submits memo for reopening of Raghunath temple gates
10/25/2010 10:00:16 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 25: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) on Monday submitted a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and Inspector General of Police, Jammu demanding opening of closed gates of historic Raghunath temple.
The JKNPP submitted that a number of delegations of the common masses of Jammu region, NGOs, social and various trade organizations have called upon the state president, Balwant Singh Mankotia and projected their grievances over the issue of closure of gates of Raghunath temple, occupation of Tara Sarai by the security forces and closure of
Park inside the temple complex.
The Party said these issues are agitating the minds of people of Jammu region in particular and pilgrims and devotees visiting the historic temple from other parts of the country.
The deputationists have expressed their concern over the apathy of the district administration towards the religious sentiments of the Hindu community and the business interests of the traders of Jammu.
“The gates of Shri Raghunath Mandir which were closed about eight years back due to security reason should be reopened for local public and religions pilgrims coming from different states of the country. A free of cost Dharamshalla constructed inside the premises of temple by Maharaja for the stay of pilgrims who come from different parts of the country is being used as the accommodation of police personnel and CRPF Jawans which is highly objectionable,” it said. The Party said it had assured the deputationists to take up the issue with concerned authorities and resolve the issue through democratic
manner.
The deputationists who approached the NPP were Lower Raghunath Bazar Business Association, Gumat Bazar Traders Association, Hari Market Traders Association, Lower Main-Market Traders Association, New Hari Market Traders Association, Suman Sangathan Raghunath pura Jammu,
Panjbakthar Road Traders Association Student Scholar Joint Action Committee, Kranti Dal, Freedom Fighters Association, Mohalla Partapgarh Welfare Committee, Mohalla Kileth Nagar Welfare Committee, Mohalla Kanji House Welfare Committee, Kalith Nagar Traders Association, Dogra Kranti Dal, Panthers Trade Union.
The Party also served an ultimatum to the administration for resolving the issues before November 5, 2010, threatening that the people of Jammu would otherwise be forced to adopt agitational course for which the state govt will be responsible.
