BJP, JKPF lock horns over poor turnout | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 25: A day after organising public rally at Parade chowk to kick start Accession Day celebrations, senior BJP leaders and members of the Jammu And Kashmir Peoples forum seems to have locked horns over poor turnout in the function. The senior party leaders were embarrassed in the presence of their deputy leader SS Ahluwalia as majority of chairs put up by the organisers stared organisers in their face. Only the front rows were occupied and rest remained unoccupied through out the rally. When the programme got underway on Sunday, all the prominent leaders cutting across party lines were stunned to see empty house and started whisper campaign. Sources revealed that in front of the media persons the senior party leaders may have defended themselves by claiming that only select few people were issued invitation cards to attend the show and the peoples forum had never wanted the BJP leaders to lend their weight behind the organsiers to fill the space. Interestingly, the BJP leaders who wanted to take responsibility to manage the crowd were left speechless as they saw empty rows when they arrived at the venue. "We were not given any responsibility by the party high command to bring people to the rally as members of the Peoples forum had made it clear no extra effort is required to drag people to the function". "All those people who want to listen to the views and join the celebrations will come on their own" the members of the Jammu Kashmir Peoples forum had maintained while reviewing the preparations ahead of the public rally. Sources also revealed that intellectual arrogance of the senior members of the Peoples forum played spoil sport as BJP legislators had put forth a concrete suggestion to celebrate the occasion in the presence of huge rush to send across a powerful message. "This time we may have committed a mistake by relying on the members of the Peoples forum but we are not going to depend on their assessment in the coming days". Hitting back at the BJP the members of the Peoples forum in private admitted that we were surprised to see BJP leaders fleeing ahead of the completion of the programme. How can they leave the venue of the function without waiting for the function to get over, the forum members hit back at the BJP leaders for not showing basic courtesy and maintaining the decorum.
