| Kabaddi: PG, Poonch College enter quarterfinals | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, October 26: Government Degree College Poonch and the combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of JU among four teams today sailed into the next round of quarterfinals of the ongoing inter-college men’s kabaddi tournament, organised by Department of Sports and Physical Education at JU grounds, here.
Two other teams reaching the last eight stages are Government Degree College R S Pura and Government Degree College Bishnah getting walkovers.
Earlier, in the second round of pre-quarterfinals, PG Departments defeated Government Girdhari Lal Dogra College Hiranagar by a margin of 19 points with final score on board read 49-30. Zaffar Iqbal, Balbir and Vipan played good game for the winners PG Departments.
In the second match of the day, Degree College Pooch registered a 29-16 win over fighting Government Degree College Akhnoor to reach third round of quarterfinals.
However, two other scheduled matches of the day ended in walkovers. While Government Degree College R S Pura got walkover Government Degree College Doda, Government Degree College Bishnah awarded walkover Government Degree College Ramnagar.
Today’s matches beside others were witnessed by Director Sports and Physical Education, JU, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau.
Matches were officiated by Anil Sharma, Ajay Sharma and Ajay Gupta.
