Tussle between CRPF and protestors in Valley: from stones to street writing
10/26/2010 9:51:01 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, October 26: The tussle of stones between paramilitary troopers and protestors in Kashmir Valley is now obsolete; the façade of the battle has been changed from direct counter with stones and bullets to personal dissention. The ripple of the unrest is now modified into battle between anti-Indians and pro-Indians, and the medium is now street writing.
No street from civil lanes to downtown area of the Valley is spared from the slogans of Azaadi, the excerpts such as ‘Go India Go’, ‘Indian dogs go back’, ‘we want freedom’ and quit India’ speaks of the rage of protestors.
During the prolonged unrest in the valley, the protestors have swelled up all the streets of the region with such provocative and anti Indian slogans, to which CRPF personals act in their own indigenous way.
“We are bound to articulate our rage by writing on streets and walls to aware the international audiences and let them know what Kashmiri Diaspora really wants. Stone pelting they (government) considers unlawful but writing on walls and streets is the only tool in our hands, we want to express our resentment over the innocent killings and plead for justice via this way,” said Sajad, a University Student.
It is bizarre but is reality that the CRPF troopers punish the writers by making them to sweep the inscription with their tongue.
“CRPF troopers are tyrant while dealing with protestors . We are wondering that being in democracy we are being punished by CRPF for pitching our voice,” Kashmir University, professor said wishing anonymity, adding that it is inhumane to make somebody to sweep street with tongue.
Contradicting professor’s claim of being inhumane, an officer of CRPF said that they slander dignity and esteem of our motherland and trample and insult tri colour, which they think is humane, “despite of thrashing we just catch and request them to clean it and on disapproving we have to be strict with them, which I guess has no connection of being tyrant,” said he, requested for anonymity.
The war of writing between Pro and Anti Indians is visible as on every slogan of Azaadi, CRPF troopers show their patriotism and erase the inscription, sometimes by aforesaid way.
The streets in the civil lanes included Hyderpora, LalChowk, Sonwar and other such less volatile areas, the writings have been completely wiped out, but in some parts of the downtown area, CRPF troopers swapped same with famous adage “Doodh Mango Gay Toh Kheer Denge, Kashmir Mango Gay Toh Cheer Denge”, which shows patriotism and valiancy of men in uniform.
It is pertinent to mention here that on the same pretext Pakistan has already lambasted India for being deaf and blind. According to news agency, Daily News and Analysis (DNA), Pakistani, Foreign spokesperson, Abdul Basit said that people of Kashmir have resolved to get their right of self determination and the writing on the walls and streets are testimony of it. He said “New Delhi should read the “writing on the walls and streets” to know what Kashmiri people really wants.
