Rs 1,500 cr being invested in J & K horticulture industry

Srinagar, Oct 31 An amount of Rs 1,500 crore is being invested in private sector to promote horticulture industry in Jammu and Kashmir, an official spokesman said today.
He said mini-fruit processing units and cold stores at district and fruit mandi levels are being set up under a tie up worked out by a subsidiary of Kohinoor Industries Ltd with some foreign countries.

He said this information was given during a meeting called by the Minister for Horticulture, PHE, Tourism, Mohammed Dilawar Mir at apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir.

The minister said that a project for construction of a by-pass to divert traffic and ease traffic pressure in the main town is being worked out.

He also said that fruit mandi Sopore would be developed as regional fruit market of the country for which Rs 19 crore have been already sanctioned.
