Army flags off educational tour | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 27:Karvan-E-Aman’ an Educational Tour for children of the far flung border areas of Poonch District organised by Army and conducted by a Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under the aegis of Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) was flagged in today by the General Officer Commanding Romeo Force. The tour consisting of 23 school children and two teachers from Surankote Tehsil was flagged off by the Sector Commander Rashtriya Rifles on 15 October. At Delhi, the tour participants visited Akshardham temple, Pragati Maidan, Jantar Mantar, India Gate, Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Rashrtapati Bhawan. During their visit to Jaipur, the students visited Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, Jai Gadh Fort, Jal Mahal, Sheesh Mahal and City Palace. Thereafter, the tour participants were taken to Ajmer, where they visited Ajmer Sharif. The tour after an eventfull tour of Delhi, Jaipur and Ajmer then started off for their next destination, Jammu. In Jammu, they visited Bahu Fort. During the tour, the children had the rare opportunity to experience air travel from Jammu to Delhi and rail travel from Ajmer to Jammu. The children were also privileged to meet and interact with the President of India Pratibha Devi Patil at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Successful completion of this tour has resulted in closer relationship between the locals and the Army. It has also developed a deep sense of belonging to the nation amongst these children of remote areas. This gesture by the Army will generate better trust and goodwill amongst the masses besides winning their hearts and minds.
