| Delhi takes home double title as J&K bags bronze in Softball | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 27: Hosts Jammu and Kashmir boys had to contain with a bronze medal after they lost to Delhi in a crucial contest in the 23rd Sub-junior National Softball Championships held at MA Stadium, here today. Later, beating Madhya Pradesh in the final, Delhi boys clinched the title to make it a double title. Earlier, Delhi girls trounced Kerala to emerge as new champion. Third place in girls section went to Chandigarh. In the boys’ final, in form Delhi blanked Madhya Pradesh 10-0 to make it a one-sided contest. From Delhi, Vikas scored highest three homes while Sumit contributed two. Similarly, in girls section, Delhi drubbed Kerala 17-7, again in a one-sided contest. Revti was the star performer for Delhi with four homes while Shweta scored three. In the final and prize distribution function, former Deputy Chief Minister, Mangat Ram Sharma was chief guest who gave away winners and runners-up trophies besides other individual prizes.
Pushpinder, Shubam, Harsimran of J&K excel
Pushpinder and Shubam of J&K got best all-rounder and best batter titles respectively. Ritul Jain of Madhya Pradesh was adjudged best pitcher while best catcher and best fielder awards went to J Bitin of Manipur and Don Daher of Chhattisgarh respectively. Meanwhile, in the girls section, Nimia NA of Kerala bagged the best pitcher award, while all-rounder trophy award went to S Sayawati of Manipur. Best batter award was secured by Simranjeet Kour of Punjab and the best catcher and best fielder awards went to Revti of Delhi and Harsimran of J&K respectively.
