DDC direct concerned deptt to clear all wages
Kotranka residents allege delay in NREGA payments

RAJOURI, OCT 27: Residents of Kotranka tehsil of Rajouri today accused Rural Development Department for continuous delay in the disbursement of payments under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme. The matter was highlighted by the locals during public darbar convened by District Development Commissioner Rajouri Ghulam Ahmed Khwaja in the area.
As there were larger scale complaints in disbursement of MGNREGA payments in Budhal area of Rajouri, residents highlighted the issue before DDC Rajouri during Public darbar where they alleged that Rural Development Department has failed to provide them wages under MGNREGA and they are making rounds of the offices for the payments since long. They said that officials of RDD are not cooperating the people and they are regularly delaying payments.
After listening to the residents, DDC directed the concerned department to release all pending payments if any to the labourers.
Earlier accompanied by the officers from PHE, Education, Agriculture, PDD, R&B and other officers, the DDC interacted with the public and listened to their demands. The main demands was the re-verification of BPL lists and inclusion of the names of the deserving people as locals alleged that many influential people have managed to get their names registered in BPL lists. The DDC assured that lists will be updated and any discrepancy in the same will removed.
It was apprised that 11 schemes worth Rs.16 crore are going on in the district under MNP and 11 more schemes under NRDEW and the drinking water supply scenario in the district shall get great impetus after the completion of these schemes.
The DDC asked the agriculture officers to ensure timely supply of seeds and fertilizers to the farmers and warned them that any laxity in this regard shall be seriously viewed. He also urged the public to cooperate with the census officials as the census was the basis of all developmental planning.
The DCC also called for conservation of green cover and asked the people to plant more and more trees in the area. He said the cutting of forests has led the world towards a catastrophic end and time has come when people should come forward and contribute their bit in saving the earth. . He also called for plantation of fruit trees and said that the horticulture sector has great employment potential.
