EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Oct 27: The much hyped Jammu visit of the interlocutors on Kashmir may not have enthused different shades of political opinions of the region or the general public but for media persons here their arrival was like that of an encounter of 'hungry hops attacking the meal (of news) on its very sight'. Pushing and prodding as usual on presence of VVIPs, the scene at airport was packed with interest, excitement as also some moments of fun.
Media persons representing various print and electronic media organizations waited anxiously and tirelessly for the interlocutors’ arrival here from Srinagar.
Some of the media persons representing some local and national news channels besides a few print media journalists reached Jammu airport to have an interface with the interlocutors as early as 1:30 pm while a large number of others started to throng State Guest House, Canal Road almost at the same time.
All of them though had to wait almost for two hours to have a glimpse of the interlocutors and head-to-head conversation with eminent journalist Dileep Padgaonkar, one of the two interlocutors who along with noted academician reached State Guest House at around 3:30 pm.
But before the arrival of the interlocutors, it was a day of anxiety and curiosity for most of the media persons as they were not sure whether their long wait would yield fruitful results or not, most of them apprehensive they won't talk at at all.
There were rounds of discussions going on among a large number of waiting journalists that what would be the reaction of the interlocutors-whether they would address media or just evade the queries of journos.
Finally, the waiting reporters had a sigh of relief when they saw Journalist Dileep Padgaonkar and academician Radha Kumar drove to Guest House.
The media persons including seniors as well as juniors, though, had to wait almost for two hours to have a glimpse of the interlocutors.
And when Padgaonkar stepped out of the car and responded to volley of questions of the waiting media persons, the job was accomplished with 'success' albeit for that particular moment only as for a journalist every new minute there is a new assignment awaits them.
