MAM College again becomes cricket champion

JAMMU, October 28: Beating Trikuta Degree College by a big margin of 56 runs, Government MAM College again won the cricket trophy after a gap of four years in the inter-college competitions, organised by Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, here today.
Batting first after winning the toss, MAM College set a target of 120 runs losing all their wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, which, in reply, Trikuta College could not chase and the whole side bowled out for just 63 runs in 14 overs.
Akash was top scorer with 21 runs while Sumeet Sharma and Naveel Rahi contributed 15 runs each. From Trikuta College, Prabhjeet Singh was most successful bowler with four for 32. Sajad Hussain took three wickets.
Later, chasing a run rate of six runs per over, Trikuta College could not face the bowling attack of MAM and started losing wickets in regular intervals thereby making an end to their innings at 63 in 14 overs.
Atul Sharma and Kunal were main scorers with 16 and 14 runs in their respective accounts. Akash Manhas created havoc in Trikuta College camp taking away four wickets for 11 runs. Surinder and Sumit shared two wickets each.
For his all-round performance, Akash Manhas was declared man of the match. The final was officiated by Raman Kumar, Vijay Dogra and Manu Khajuria (scorer).
In the final and prize distribution function, Head of the Department of Education, Prof Lokesh Verma was chief guest, who gave away winners trophy and other individual prizes.
Among others present were Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau and Principal MAM College, Prof Ajit Angral and Physical Director, Mahesh Sharma.

Celebration time for MAM

There were celebrations all round the University of Jammu grounds after a healthy crowd gathered to boost the MAM College teams. Soon after celebrating the college’s entry into the semifinals in kabaddi in the adjoining fields, these student supporters turned towards the cricket ground to cheer up for their team playing the final.
Soon after MAM clinched the last wicket of Trikuta College, the crowd entered the field and greeted team for winning the cricket trophy after a gap of four years.
